Shine Appoints Paula Jalfon as Senior Vice President, Production for Film Projects

BBC Films executive to source and finance new film projects at Shine Pictures and Kudos Pictures

London, December 2, 2010 Shine Group has appointed BBC Films' Commercial Manager Paula Jalfon as Senior Vice President Production; overseeing the financing and production of the Group's film operations Shine Pictures and Kudos Pictures.

In her new role commencing January 11, Jalfon will produce and executive produce films for Shine Pictures, the joint venture between Shine and Hollywood producer-financier New Regency and Kudos Pictures.

Jalfon will oversee all aspects of business affairs at the companies and working alongside co- heads Paul Webster and Stephen Garrett, ring-fencing new film projects and finance and managing projects to fruition.

Webster said: Paula is an original talent bursting with great ideas and enthusiasm. I'm delighted to be resuming a creative partnership with her at Shine Pictures, having worked with her on Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, a project I couldn't have made without her.

Jalfon is currently Commercial Manager at BBC Films, the feature film-making arm of the BBC where she is responsible for the packaging of films, sourcing third party funding and managing and building existing and new partner and talent relationships. Here, Jalfon recently executive produced Streetdance 3D and In the Loop .

Jalfon has also served as Head of Development and Production at Ingenious Media Investments between 2002 and 2007.Jalfon supervised investments in movies such as Shaun of the Dead, Vera Drake, Hairspray and Hotel Rwanda. Jalfon has also spent time as head of production at the British Film Institute's BFI TV and ran her own documentary production company Minerva Pictures.

Shine Pictures develops and produces broad-based distinctive films for the global marketplace from Kudos' Eastern Promises with Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts and Vincent Cassel to Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day starring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams. Next to release will be Brighton Rock, opening in the UK via Optimum Releasing on February 4 starring Sam Riley, Andrea Riseborough and Helen Mirren; and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen directed by Lasse Hallstrom and written by Simon Beaufoy starring Ewan MacGregor and Emily Blunt.
