Shine's Merlin sold to China

FME conjures up China sale for Merlin Merlin, the BBC's updated take on the classic tale of wizards and magic, has found another major buyer, as FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) sells the series into China. State-run CCTV has picked up series one as part of a package that also includes the German action drama 112 (110x30') and Australian scripted crime drama series The Strip (13x60'). Ganesh Rajaram, FME's VP of Asian sales, said the deal was "a major development for both FME and CCTV," adding: "China is a key territory for FME and this helps us build on our successes in the region." Regional distributor Hong Kong Century Film TV Network brokered the deal for FME, which holds the licensing, home entertainment (excluding UK) and distribution rights to Merlin, a Shine production.
