A charming and comedic religious documentary series, in which former stand-up comic, turned best-selling author, Pete McCarthy, travelled the globe in search of something. It might be the meaning of life, it might be spiritual enlightenment, though he was under strict instructions from his producer not to find whatever it was, lest the series be cancelled. Along the way Pete spent time with a miscellany of witches, warlocks, druids, shamen, priests, mountebanks, imposters, fakirs, philosophers and seers, and on one memorable night was buried up to his neck in the middle of the Australian outback in order to be “reborn.” Rather unhappy at this, Pete demanded the crew dig him out, but in the interests of serious documentary authenticity, the crew declined. This made Pete unhappier still, though there were no further rebirthing experiences in the series.
