Runners & Shine Mentoring Scheme

Our runners and other junior staff can forge a mentoring relationship with an experienced Shine colleague to help them develop skills and confidence in dealing with work and career challenges. 

Senior Women in Media Mentoring (SWIMM)

Each year, talented female rising stars at Shine get the chance to be mentored by a media industry leader. Created in 2009 by amongst others, Dame Gail Rebuck, Chairman of Penguin Random House and Elisabeth Murdoch, Chairman of Shine, SWIMM programme has overwhelmingly exceeded expectations: some SWIMM mentees have been promoted, others achieved career changes they had hoped for and some even moved continents!

1:1 Coaching
Short term relationship with a professional coach that focuses on a specific development challenge preventing someone from reaching their potential.

Speed Coaching
Short confidential sessions with a Career/ Life Coach to discuss individual career aspirations or any other work subject, where an independent sounding board would be beneficial.

Every manager at Shine has access to internal bitesize worskhops on topics such as :

Meaningful Employee Development Reviews, Giving Development Feedback, Career Coaching Conversations, Managing Change and Employment Law Updates.

We run several soft skills training which include:

Negotiation Skills, Pitching, Presentation Skills, Influencing Skills, Positive Mindset, How To Be More Effective, How To Say No and Getting The Most Out of My Employee Development Review.

We also host a number of technical skills training these include:
Camera Skills, Editing, Photoshop and MS Office Packages.

Our people can also access language training, have their professional study sponsored by Shine or practice Mindfulness and Meditation!
