Due to the high number of applications we will only be able to respond to successful applicants. It could be several weeks before you hear from us and you will only hear from us if you have been short-listed to take part. BY SUBMITTING THIS APPLICATION FORM TO SHINE TV, YOU CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED TO THE APPLICATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS. IN ADDITION, YOU CONFIRM THAT ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED IS ACCURATE, TRUTHFUL AND NOT MISLEADING. SHINE TV COMPLIES WITH THE DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 (THE ?ACT?) AND WE WILL COLLECT, STORE AND USE ANY DATA ABOUT YOU AS PROVIDED IN THIS APPLICATION FORM IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT.

• In order to be eligible to apply for MasterChef, you must fall within the following criteria:
  • You must be 18 years old or over (as at 1st October 2016)
  • You must be resident in the United Kingdom (including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man), are in good health and aware of no reason why you should not be able to take part in the programme.
  • If you have worked full time as a chef you are not eligible to participate in the programme.
  • Your main source of income cannot come from preparing and cooking fresh food in a professional environment (e.g. restaurants, hotels, canteens, cookery schools)
  • You must be able to commit to all the filming days required.
  • Employees of Shine TV and/or the BBC (and members of their immediate family or household) are not eligible to apply for the programme.
  • You cannot have been convicted of any serious crime.
• Neither Shine TV nor the BBC shall be responsible for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any aspect of the online application system or email which may result in any applications not being properly received.
• Submission of an application form and compliance with these terms and conditions does not in any way constitute an offer to audition or participate in the series. The producers may (in their discretion) invite you to attend an interview. When selecting contestants for MasterChef the following areas may be taken into account: skill, enthusiasm, drive, love of food and desire to change your life.
• The information you supply on this form (including your personal details):
  • may be included in a contestant database compiled by Shine;
  • will used for the purposes related to the production of the programme;
  • may be used for inclusion and/or read out in the programme; and
  • will not be supplied to third parties other than the BBC and our insurers other than as is reasonably necessary for the purposes of producing the programme.
• If you are selected to participate in the series, it will be a condition of your participation that you enter into a contributor agreement.
• All information supplied (including personal details) in your application or otherwise provided must be truthful, accurate and not misleading. Please note that all decisions regarding applications shall made by Shine TV and the BBC in its discretion and shall not be subject to appeal.

Submission of an application form and compliance with these terms and conditions does not in any way constitute an offer to audition or to participate in the series. The Producers may (but may not) invite you to attend an interview at their discretion. When selecting applicants for MasterChef, the following issues will be taken into account: skill, enthusiasm, drive, love of food, desire to change your life. The Production team's decisions regarding selection to the programmes are final.

If you have indicated on the Application Form that you wish to be considered for participation in the series, your personal details will be included in a database compiled for this purpose. In the event that you do participate in the series, then prior to and as a condition for your participation, you will be required to sign a separate Contributors Agreement with us. This Agreement will provide that in consideration of your participation in the series, we will own all of the rights in the series including your contribution which will be freely available for broadcast and all other media purposes without any payment to you.

Shine TV takes the protection of personal data seriously and complies at all times with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act"). The information you supply on this form may be stored by Shine TV in accordance with the Act and will be used for the purposes of selecting contestants and producing the programme. We will not supply this information to third parties (other than the BBC or other third parties strictly as required to select contestants and produce the programme and always on a confidential basis) or use for other opportunities unless you have given Shine your express approval.
